Nagpur: The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Nagpur, has become the first hospital/institute in Central India to receive the Certification by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) under its 6th Edition.
The NABH Full Accreditation process is comprehensive and rigorous, involving detailed assessment of patient safety systems, clinical governance, infrastructure, documentation standards, infection control practices, medication safety, risk management, and continuous quality improvement mechanisms across the hospital. Successfully meeting these standards across a wide spectrum of services represents a significant institutional achievement.
The accreditation was awarded after assessing Comprehensive Clinical and Diagnostic Services that NCI offers as following.
• Clinical Services: Medical, Surgical, and Radiation Oncology; Hemato-Oncology; Bone Marrow Transplant; Critical Care; Emergency/General Medicine; Nuclear Medicine; Pediatric Oncology; Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery; Psychiatry; Head & Neck and Transfusion Medicine; Anaesthesiology including Pain Medicine; Dental Sciences; Gynaecology Ocology.
• Diagnostic Services: CT Scan, MRI, PET Scan, Mammography, Ultrasound, X-Ray, ECG, 2D Echo, Color Doppler, and Gamma Camera.
• Laboratory Services: Clinical Biochemistry, Microbiology & Serology, Hematology, Histopathology, Cytopathology, and Virology.
• Support Services: Pharmacy, Dietetics, Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and Ambulance Services.
This NABH accreditation reinforces NCI’s dedication to delivering evidence-based high-quality clinical care. It ensures that patient safety protocols, infection control practices, and ethical standards are consistently followed, thereby improving patient outcomes and institutional accountability. The accreditation is a mark of assurance that the NCI adheres to stringent national/international benchmarks in healthcare delivery, state-of-the-art infrastructure, passionate patient care, and continuous quality improvement.
It is a significant achievement for NCI that has built a reputation globally with its International Patient Services Department, and a global standard research activity that has encouraged cross-border collaboration to treat cancer. In February 2026, the NCI organised an international conference — “Oncology Beyond the Borders” to widen its horizon in the field of cancer care research. Nearly 50 international experts participated in the conference.
Speaking on this occasion, Shri Shailesh Joglekar, General Secretary & CEO of NCI, congratulated Medical Director, Dr Anand Pathak, and team of doctors, nurses, quality control and administrative staff, whose relentless efforts and dedication made this achievement possible. He also deeply acknowledged the trust and support of patients and their families.
Adv Sunil Manohar, President of NCI, Shri Ajay Sancheti, Vice-President and Shri Anand Aurangabadkar, Treasurer, have congratulated the hospital team for its grand achievement.
Stating further, Shri Joglekar said,
“The National Cancer Institute, Nagpur, has always been following the practices that are prescribed by NABH to deliver world-class oncology services.
