Today, in the picturesque surroundings of NCI, pediatric patients, their parents, NCI doctors, and staff wholeheartedly enjoyed a kite-flying celebration to mark the traditional festival of Makar Sankranti. Preparations for the festival had begun well in advance. Over the past couple of days, the children had made their own kites, turning their childlike imagination into reality, and today they stepped onto the field fully prepared. They were joined and encouraged by their parents and the caring brothers and sisters of NCI. As the kites soared high into the sky, there was nothing but pure joy on the children’s faces.
From NCI’s perspective, such celebrations are extremely important, as they give young patients renewed energy to face cancer with full strength. They also help families realize that they are not alone in this fight. On this occasion, NCI President Adv Sunil Manohar was present and further boosted everyone’s enthusiasm.
