An Unique Event of Small Field Dosimetry for Cancer Care Organized by Department of Radiation Oncology Medical Physics, National Cancer Institute Nagpur

National Cancer Institute Nagpur had recently organized 2 days Annual conference of Western Chapter of Association of Medical Physicists of India on “Small Field Dosimetry: Challenges and Solutions in current scenario”, Western Chapter of Association of Medical Physicists of India with matching the aims & objectives of both organizations, joined the NCI and initiated this event. An educative and informative sessions on small field dosimetry were conducted.

The program was inaugurated at the hands of Chief Guest Faculty Dr Govind Rajan K N, Ex Head of the Medical Physics and Safety Section at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai and currently working as Prof. of Medical Physics, Dept. of Medical Physics, PSG Hospitals, Coimbatore. He also delivered a special talk on “A Brief Overview of Static Small Field Dosimetry”

Western Chapter of AMPI awarded the Saraswati Oration Award to Dr Govind Rajan KN for his achievements in the field In an inaugural function address Chief Guest stressed the importance of such conferences

Dr. S D Sharma, Guest Speaker, National President of Association of Medical Physicists of India (AMPI), In his speech during inaugural function, emphasize the important role of Medical Physicist in the entire cancer management. after seeing the good response in scientific deliberation, and overall organization of this conference he was very happy and has suggested NCI to organize national level conference in future. In the welcome speech, Dr Sameer Chandorkar, Head Department of Radiation Oncology National Cancer Institute, Nagpur informed about the facilities available and service being rendered for comprehensive Cancer Management in NCI.

Organizing Secretary of WC AMPICON 2019 Mr. Hemant V. Ghare briefed the participants regarding motive behind this unique event organized by NCI Nagpur.
