National Cancer Institute is celebrating ‘Foundation Month’. As part of this celebration, Umbrella Painting Workshop, a fun-filled activity was organised on August 14, 2023 at 2.30 pm. This workshop was facilitated by Shri Achyut Palav, National Award Winner Calligraphy Artist & his team for the Paediatric Patients.
In his address to the gathering of the paediatric patients and their parents, Dr Pankaj Dwivedi, Paediatric Oncologist, NCI emphasised the mental stress that each of the little one and their families go through. He mentioned that such initiatives bring about a feeling of cheer and happiness for the child as well as their parents. He thanked the management of NCI to have initiated this programme and appreciated the team who worked hard towards the physical and mental wellbeing of the children.
Shri Achyut Palav, started his address and the workshop with gusto. He instructed each child to make an “Anandachi Chhatri” – an Umbrella of Happiness. He said that as a team, it was very satisfying to work with the children patients and spread delight. He demonstrated specialised painting techniques and ensured that each child expressed their unbridled emotions. A veritable enthusiast, he maintained the tempo of the gathering. To commemorate Independence day, he also painted a tricolour canvas for the hospital.
Shri Vivek Ranade, well known photographer and creative designer, was also present for the workshop. Shri. Shailesh Joglekar, CEO and Dr. Anand Pathak, Medical Director of National Cancer Institute, also participated wholeheartedly with the children.
The programme was anchored by Ms. Devyani Joshi and Dr. Nitin Manwani, from the Paediatric Oncology department proposed the Vote of thanks. A colourful day at NCI, 14th August 2023 was memorable not only for the participants and their parents, but also immensely satisfying for the organisers as well.
45 paediatric patients along with their parents actively & wholeheartedly participated and enjoyed this activity. The joy was visible on face of this children while carrying home the umbrellas painted by them.
