MoU signed between National Cancer Institute and Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (DMIMS) for Academic Exchange

National Cancer Institute, Nagpur & Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (DMIMS), Nagpur have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 10th of August 2020 at National Cancer Institute, Nagpur. Dr Rajiv Borle, Vice Chancellor, DMIMS (DU), Dr Dilip Gode, Dean and Dr Babaji Ghewade, Registrar from DMIMS (DU) were present to sign the MoU.

On behalf of NCI, the event was graced by the presence of Shri Shailesh Joglekar, General Secretary & CEO, Dr Anand Pathak, Medical Director, Shri Anand Aurangabadkar, Treasurer and HoDs of all the clinical departments. The MoU was aimed at creating knowledge centres by forging partnerships between educational institutes and hospitals. Dr Sachin Jambhorkar, Academic Co-ordinator at NCI conducted the proceedings.

Speaking about the MoU, Dr Borle elaborated upon how this would be an inventive educational programme with wide areas for academic collaboration like Student and Faculty Exchange Programme, fellowships, doctoral and research program. Conferences, workshops and other capacity building exercise would also be a part of this. Special focus would be upon paramedical and technical capacity building in the disease specific care. Dr Anand Pathak also appreciated this as being a move in the right direction in creating a specialized taskforce for cancer care.

The objective of forging this alliance is to enable all the stakeholders to derive benefit by achieving distinctive high quality teaching, training & research experience ultimately resulting in benefitting the patients and society at large.
