Mr. Azim Premji’s visit at the National Cancer Institute

Shri Azim Premji, Founder Chairman, Wipro Limited and Rishad Premji, Chairman, Wipro Limited along with Anurag Behar, CEO, Azim Premji Foundation & Vice-Chancellor, Azim Premji University visited the National Cancer Institute, Nagpur (NCI) on 5th October, 2019. Mr. Nalinikanth (Nal) Gollagunta, President & CEO of GE Healthcare (India and South Asia), Managing Director of Wipro GE Healthcare also accompanied them.

The dignitaries were received and welcomed by the management. They were briefed about the vision of National Cancer Institute and how National Cancer Institute aims to provide cancer care for all irrespective of caste, creed and gender. Shri Azim Premji and Shri Rishad Premji along with their team visited the newly built facility of NCI and interacted with the clinicians.

Mr. Azim Premji is known for being a compassionate philanthropist and his passion for health care reforms in the society. Looking at the growing need for cancer care and the work NCI is doing, Mr. Azim Premji expressed how the endowments made are never enough. 

Mr. Rishad Premji appreciated the work culture and how NCI is providing the quality cancer care treatment to all the patients irrespective of the socio-economic strata they belonged to, at very subsidized rates. Mr. Azim Premji appreciated the dedication of all the kark-yoddhas, kark-sevaks and the management working towards the dream of striving for a healthy, cancer-free India.
