The course is meant for qualified medical graduates (M.B.B.S./B.A.M.S./B.H.M.S.) for a period of 3 months. The aim of the course is to upgrade the knowledge and skills of medical graduates, so as to be-

  • Well-versed with the clinical activities of various departments of a comprehensive cancer care center.
  • Able to handle cancer patients under the expert supervision of qualified oncology consultants.
  • Capable of handling various duties of a resident medical officer like maintaining venous access devices like PICC, central lines, chemo-ports, assist in chemotherapy drug administration, assist in procedures managing paediatric cancer patients, brachy-therapy, minor surgical procedures, pre & post operative care, care of the critically and terminally ill cancer patients, etc.

To prepare a cadre of oncology trained medical graduates who can :

  • Provide state-of-the-art oncology care to cancer patients under expert supervision of consultant doctors.
  • Assist the Oncologists in day-to-day management of cancer cases and in improving patient outcomes.
  • Help in improving quality of life with specialized care.
  • Decrease the morbidity and mortality caused by unskilled care.
  • Screen the target population by getting involved in the outreach community programs for cancer prevention and education.
  • Pick up cancer at early stages by continuous participation in cancer screening and cancer detection programs.
  • Use the resources effectively for desired outcomes.
  • Develop the necessary skills required to manage oncology units.

M.B.B.S./B.A.M.S./B.H.M.S. or equivalent qualification & registered with the respective medical Councils.

Candidates seeking admission to Post-graduate Diploma in Oncology Care (PGDOC) course should submit the application form at the 'Academic Cell' of National Cancer Institute, Nagpur or can fill the application form online on our website www.ncinagpur.in. All admissions are provisional subject to verification of original documents.

The selection will be made by the selection committee of the Academic cell of NCI, based on merit only. i.e. marks obtained by the candidate in the written examination and personal interview. Decision of the academic selection committee shall be final.

Shortlisted Candidates will be called for counseling as per dates intimated.

Non-refundable total amount of Rs. 30,000/- (Rupees Thirty Thousand only) should be deposited before joining the course and will not be refunded, if candidate discontinues the course.

A refundable security deposit of Rs. 5000/- (Rupees Five Thousand only) should be submitted at the time of joining the course.

It is a stipendiary training course.

Diploma will be awarded after the successful completion of the course & after passing the mandatory theory and practical examinations.

After successful completion of the course, candidates will be screened & deserving candidates will be given appointments at NCI, Nagpur. The decision regarding appointment for the post of ‘Resident Medical Officer’ will be at the sole discretion of NCI, Nagpur.
